Mirrors aren’t just designed to add a decorative touch to an interior. They also work best to make space feel brighter and larger. Here, we share some of our creative ways to use mirrors for showcasing the beauty of home interiors, from bedrooms to living rooms.
In this apartment in Baguio Villa in Pok Fu Lam, floor-to-ceiling mirrors in a corner make the living room seem twice its size. Clifton Leung created the corner by building a long, narrow storage space, fronted by a brick wall that accommodates a television screen.
Mirror image
In this apartment in The Arch in the Kowloon Station, the mirror above the bed installed here serves different purposes, none of them arguably narcissistic. The mirror allows the sea view to be visible not only from the bed but also makes the space appear bigger and taller, and bounces light around, ensuring ample natural illumination during the day. Clifton Leung said the feature was made more subtle by greyish mirror, which was used on the ceiling and behind the bed. He wanted it slightly darker; otherwise the reflection would be too much.
Infinity fun
In this studio flat in Shiu King Court in Central, smartly installing mirror cabinets at the end of both sides of the apartment, it creates an “infinity-like” extension of visual space. At the same time, expansive windows capture a lot of natural light and offers inspiring views for the space.
Double up
In this apartment in Parc Palais in Ho Man Tin, the foyer space is doubled up with a mirror wall, adding an inviting touch. The “extended” skylight ceiling creates a “runway-look” lighting feature.
Make a statement
In this apartment in Robinson Place in Mid-levels, the oak wood wardrobes are installed with floor to ceiling grey mirror door panels for a visually light and spacious room. It works best for bringing airy vibe to a room and makes a statement.
Bevelled Chic
In this apartment in The Harbourside in the Kowloon station, bevel edged mirrors are installed along the kitchen wall to reflect the stunning harbour view. Complemented with the color-changing LED light, it sets the mood for a romantic dining experience.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
The use of mirrors and mirror cabinets in this apartment in High Street, Sai Ying Pun creates an illusion of infinite space, multiplies the space of the small bathroom area. A frosted glass panel is also embedded in the wall separating the bathroom and kitchen, which helps to bring in the natural light from the kitchen while maintaining the privacy of the occupants.
Doubling fun
In this house in Fairview Park in Yuen Long, the open bathroom features Philippe Starck-designed Kartell Francois Ghost Mirrors installed on both sides of the glass panel that defines the bathroom and drinks station space, creating a visually interesting effect at the open-plan-designed space.
